With the advent of the baby in the house, the hassle of young parents noticeably increases. It is worth taking care of the competent filling of the children’s first-aid kit in advance in order to always have at hand the most necessary care products and medicines to deal with possible troubles – high fever, colic, allergies, constipation and others in a newborn’s first aid kit.
First aid and care products
The first aid kit of a newborn must necessarily contain medicines and accessories that will help to cope with common problems in babies. These include:
Skin care products . Toddlers often have problems with dry skin. If moisturizing is required, after water procedures, it is recommended to lubricate the baby’s body with special baby creams or oils. The same funds will be required for massage. In most cases, regular cleaning of the entire skin surface is not required. But the diaper area often needs delicate care with the use of creams or powder. Especially if irritation appears on the butt, which brings discomfort and negatively affects the baby’s mood.
Antiseptics . In the first days after the maternity hospital, the mother will need funds for treating the baby’s umbilical wound. Accordingly, in the first-aid kit you need to put 3% hydrogen peroxide, brilliant green, cotton pads and sticks. It is more convenient to use brilliant green and peroxide with a dispenser, then the funds can be applied directly to the wound, without the use of additional devices.
Teething remedies . This stage can start unexpectedly, already at the age of 3-4 months of the baby. It is worth stocking up on gum gels to help relieve inflammation and pain to make the process easier. It is desirable that the drug contains natural extracts, and not synthetic pain relievers that can have a systemic negative effect on the baby. For example, Dentinale® natura teething gel contains plant extracts: chamomile has a wound healing effect, aloe vera juice is antiseptic, and Boswellia extract effectively blocks pain. No analgesics, anesthetics, sugar, parabens. When applied, it acts almost immediately, relieving mucosal edema, redness and itching. The gel is harmless if swallowed and is suitable for babies from birth.
Antihistamines . Another problem that is quite common among babies is allergies. Often, an undesirable reaction is redness, a rash on the skin manifests itself when new products are introduced into the diet of the crumbs. Allergies sometimes overtake children who try complementary foods or babies if the mother ate a product with a high allergenic status. This phenomenon is temporary in most cases. To get rid of allergic reactions and prevent their development (before vaccination, for example), antihistamines should be in the medicine cabinet.
Gas outlet tubes . Children’s colic is a phenomenon, the causes of which have not yet been precisely established by medicine. At the age of up to 3 months, they are considered a physiological norm, not a pathology, and do not require treatment. Safe and effective air ducts such as Windi® can be used to relieve baby’s suffering from colic, flatulence and constipation. The tube has an insertion stop and a smooth, rounded tip so that the mother does not harm the baby during the procedure, but at the same time inserted the tube up to the sphincter, the spasm of which prevents the baby from removing gases from the intestines on his own. The tubes are sold as a set (10 pcs in 1 package), and each product is disposable.
Nasal aspirator . For daily hygiene of the nose, removing dry crusts, as well as removing mucus in case of a cold, it is convenient to use a special device. So, the NoseFrida® baby nasal aspirator is equipped with a large tube that allows you to treat both nostrils of the baby in one procedure in order to reduce the period of excitement of the baby about this. The rounded tip prevents the aspirator from contacting the inflamed mucous membrane of the child’s nose and makes the procedure painless. Replaceable filter 100% protects the adult performing the procedure from contamination.
Antipyretic drugs . They can be in the form of a syrup for oral administration or suppositories for rectal use. For young children, paracetamol or ibuprofen-based preparations are preferred. Mom should use antipyretic formulations with caution and not abuse them. The normal body temperature of newborns can reach 37.4 degrees. In this case, the use of antipyretics is usually not required for the baby. It is believed that up to 38.5 degrees, the body itself is able to fight the virus. In any case, if the baby’s temperature rises, it is necessary to show the doctor.
It is beyond the power of even the most caring and sensitive mother to foresee in advance what a child can get sick with. However, if a first-aid kit for a newborn contains the most necessary tools, hygiene products and medicines, they will help to cope with the most common problems of children in the first months of life. And may your baby always be healthy!
